Flip Out is a matching puzzle game that requires a player to perform various types of matches by flipping over and memorizing the positions and types of tile-shaped cards presented on each level. The player might need to match identical cards, cards in a specific topic category or cards that share the same color or colors or display the same suit.
The player might need to match ideas or pairings with topic categories. For example, the game might ask them to match old tech with new tech from the same category or the name of an ancient Greek or Roman god with the name of a specific planet in the solar system that the figure is most often associated with in myths or belief systems.
The player receives each mission task from the game at the bottom of the playfield. Their goal is to complete the task while earning as many points as possible. The game features a timer at the top of the screen. Their secondary goal is to complete as many missions (levels) as possible before time runs out. If they make a lot of matches, they fill an energy bar below the timer. If they fill the bar entirely, they receive extra time on the clock.
Flip Out also offers a points multiplier. To earn higher points with it, the player must complete all or part of a mission while also completing a match using a card that has stars appear around it. When they eventually run out of time, they must start the game over with zero points.
How to play:
Read the instructions on the black bar at the bottom of each level to determine the mission task. Flip the cards as quickly as possible. Perform the instructed match or matches. Keep performing mission tasks until time runs out.
Controls:
Mouse: To flip a card to see the image on the other side, click it.
Mobile: To flip a card, tap it.
