Ballistic starts with seven blocks at the top of the screen. Each block features a different number below ten. The number on the block is the number of times the block needs to be hit, with a ball, that I shoot from the bottom of the screen. If I cleverly angle the ball, I can get the ball to hit a number of blocks, and sometimes the blocks will be hit more than once. After each shot, the blocks all move down. Sci-fi-style music plays in the background and the screen has the look of deep space emptiness. Once the blocks reach the bottom of the screen, all blocks explode and the game is lost.
