Word Search is the online equivalent of traditional word search games found in academic settings, books and newspapers. It displays a traditional format with a white, square background printed with jumbled letters. In a seprate white area to the right of the letters is a list of words.
The game is incredibly simple. The player must find every word from the list among the mixed up letters. They might find words positioned vertically, horizontally or diagonally with forward or backward formatting. When they find a word, the game highlights it with blue color and draws a line through it on the list. They can use a hint to find the location of the first letter of any hard-to-find words using the hint icon marked with a light bulb near the top right corner of the screen. That said, they must watch an advertisement to earn the hint.
Word Search tracks the number of words found by the player at any given time to the right of a bullseye-style target icon. The game also tracks the amount of time it takes for the player to find the words. The player can access a previous puzzle from a different date using the calendar icon near the top right corner. The game offers puzzles going back more than two decades.
How to play:
Search for a word from the list among the jumbled letters. Select and highlight the word. Wait for the game to mark it found on the list. Repeat this process to find all words. If necessary, watch an advertisement to use the hint tool.
Controls:
Mouse: To select a word, position the cursor above the first letter, press the left button, and slide the mouse so that the cursor rolls along the letters of the word in their correct order.
Mobile: To select a word, position the cursor, press the touchscreen or trackpad, and slide the cursor along the letters of the word.
