Golf Gardens FRVR is a game I've been playing off and on over the last few days. It came at a time where I was getting sick of Candy Crush clones and yearned for something different. After multiple levels of play, I'm hooked on one of the simplest games on the internet.
What Is It About?
Golf Gardens is a game about getting a golf ball into a hole. There is no big introduction, and it starts out with instructions about dragging the ball to get it to the intended destination. Each successful completion of a level brought me to a different course, with the introduction of coins adding to the challenge.
Trying to get the most coins possible with the fewest strokes was a nice little mini game, and a large part of what kept me going. Static, movable and interactable obstacles are added to increase the difficulty, but never to a point where it is obnoxious.
There is a small menu on the left side of the screen that provides access to social media, sound effect and music options. As a complete package, it is light enough to play on any device that can run a modern web browser - no download required.
What I Liked
It's simple, runs on anything, and has that 'addictive' quality. Late in the middle of the night I would tell myself to only finish one more level. The game was easy enough to get me hooked, but the challenge stayed consistent enough to keep me coming back. Later levels introduce new obstacles that keeps everything fresh.
Wrap Up
Liking golf is not required to appreciate the genius of Golf Gardens FRVR. This is one of the most laid-back games I've played this year, and later levels make it even better.
