Since the release of Microsoft Windows 3.0 in 1990, every edition of the Windows OS has included one or more versions of the tabletop card game known as solitaire in electronic form. On this page, players receive access to the Microsoft Solitaire Collection, which includes the Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and TriPeaks versions.
New players typically start with Klondike since it's the version most commonly thought of as solitaire and provides the best experiential opportunity for them to learn about sequential card order and the club, diamond, heart and spade suits in a standard 52-card deck. In all versions, the primary goal is move the red and black cards of different suits spread out non-sequentially on the tabletop into piles by suit using different tactics.
For example, in the Klondike and FreeCell versions, a player must place the mixed up cards into sequential piles built up from the lowest cards, Aces, to highest ones, Kings, by suit (A, 2, 3, 4, 5... 10, J, Q and K). While trying to find cards to use, they must build vertical stacks on the main table in reverse sequential order or down (K, Q, J, 10... 5, 4, 3 and 2). In the Pyramid and Tripeaks games, the player must try to clear cards arranged in the shape of a pyramid or peaks, respectively, from the table. In Spider Solitaire, they must try to clear the table and create sequential suit piles by using two 52-card decks. When a player wins the game, stacks of cards typically spread, fall or bounce across and down the screen.
After the Microsoft Solitaire Collection loads, a player receives access to all five versions of solitaire and other features. To customize certain elements before they play, they merely need to tap the "Menu" icon. They can adjust various settings by tapping "Options," including sound, music, hints and alerts. They can even adjust the tap frequency for moving cards, turn off the end-game animation and modify the display of difficulty levels and tutorials. On "Menu," they can tap How to play?" to access an area that provides thorough instructions for each game with text and images.
This collection also features Daily Challenges that make it possible for players to collect points to earn badges. A special club known as the Star Club also exists. Players who achieve Star Club status unlock new challenge packs that increase experience and difficulty levels and special theme-based collections with stunning deck imagery and exciting play options.
